When I received my first burner I removed a wealth of stickers from the frame and forks, purchased some mushroom grips from my local bike shop, and had mother make me some pads from an old bag waiting to be chucked out.
< As you see it here.
I decided to give my bike a re-vamp after discovering ebay for the first time, also discovering my new local bike shop in London were hiding a few old school parts.
This was the pending result...
... the hard times before uncovering the forum at raleighburner.com
Once there I noticed a wealth of heart stopping builds and once again decided to re-build my 21st birthday present with greater effect.
I found great help and advice, one member in particular who provided me with essential elements such as the pads and decals which really give that finishing touch...
Aside from the frame, forks, mags, crank and stem almost everything on this bike has been replaced since then. The yellow paintwork inside the frame leads me to believe that this bike was actually a Styler originally. However, with the exception of the lack of 'R's on the forks and dropouts this frame is identical to a Mk II Burner and was well suited as a donor for my first custom restoration.
The decision to build a custom suited me because it afforded me the freedom to use various components from across the Raleigh BMX range.
Now complete, It is apptly named the 'Lightning Burner' which is accented by my personalized decal on the seat tube. This will now remain like this forever more. No changing anything now...
