Gussetless mk I Custom
I picked this frame up from ebay for the equivalent sum of a couple of mars bars. It's a slight oddity in the fact that it has no gusset which were a common feature of the mk I burner range.

It's dated '84, the year the mk Is laid to rest, and from what I can gather the gussets weren't put in place due to a case of less work for them (Raleigh) and a to create slightly fresh look for selling off their remaining stock.

I believe this would probably have been a catalogue special and stickered up as a Raleigh Rebel.

However, this again for me was gonna be another custom.

I spent the sum of 30 full hours removing layers of nasty spray paint to bring back the original rather fetching paint work
as it stands on 31/7/06

still needs...

- Simplex mag wheels
- Custom mk I decals
- mk I reflector
- seat decal
- blue chain

Got my decals through although there was a mix up in the order so they are completely wrong from what I was after. Persisted with them anyways but decided to re-order the correct colourway.
The Banana Man scheme just wasn't doing it for me with the silver, blue and black.

Although I have replacement chrome decals for the forks, I quite liked the incorrect ones on there... the yellow is at least accented by the pedal reflectors. These new decals as I had originally envisaged them, are a big improvement all round my opinion. Pleased I made this change.
